- Massachusetts’s Senators sent a letter to Meta Platforms Ireland Limited urging the company to cease its alleged violation of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998.
- Montana Attorney General announced that the State had filed a lawsuit against Meta, in federal court, alleging that Instagram’s content misrepresentations violate Montana’s consumer protection laws and that its data collection practices violate federal law.
- Consumer Watchdog, a not-for-profit organization, sent a letter to the Attorney General of California and the Executive Director of the California Privacy Protection Agency, requesting them to take action against Clearview AI Inc. for violating privacy laws of California.
- The New York State Department of Financial Services reached a USD 1,000,000 settlement with First American Title Insurance Company for violations of the Cybersecurity Regulation following a cybersecurity breach.
ASIA PACIFIC
- Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry initiated a call for public comments on the draft evaluation of transparency and fairness of specific digital platforms.
- Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Information announced that the Government of Indonesia ratified the draft law concerning the second amendment to Law No. 11 of 2008 on Electronic Information and Transactions.
- Korea Internet & Security Agency and the Defense Agency for Technology and Quality signed a Memorandum of Understanding to coordinate responses to cyber infringement incidents and strengthen security capabilities in the defense industry.
- Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Commission signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Institute for Transparency, Access to Information, and Personal Data Protection of Mexico to strengthen cooperation on personal data protection, and renewed the MoU with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner to deepen collaborations on personal data protection.
