Data Protection Officer

The DPDPB, 2022 talks about appointing a Data Protection Officer (DPO) in certain cases. DPDPB, 2022 defines DPO as an individual appointed as such by a Significant Data Fiduciary.

Significant data fiduciaries shall appoint a DPO based in India. An individual appointed as the DPO shall report to the significant data fiduciary’s board of directors or similar governing body. The DPO is the point of contact for grievance redressal mechanism
